Every Tally Cloud India plan is priced per user per month, plus 18% GST. If you run a GST-registered business, that GST does not have to be a cost.
The basic idea
Tally on Cloud is a business service. When a GST-registered business buys a service for business use and has a proper tax invoice with its GSTIN, the GST paid is usually available as input tax credit (ITC), subject to the normal GST rules.
This is general information, not tax advice. Your CA can confirm what applies to your business.
What you need for ITC
- Your GSTIN on the invoice. Enter it at checkout. It is printed on the tax invoice for every payment.
- A valid tax invoice. Every payment on Tally Cloud India produces one, which you can download from your portal.
- The supplier's return filed. The invoice should appear in your GSTR-2B.
- Business use. The service should be used for your business.
Example
5 users on the Gold plan for one month:
- 5 × ₹299 = ₹1,495
- GST 18% = ₹269.10
- Total paid = ₹1,764.10
If ITC is available to you, the ₹269.10 can be set off against your output GST, so the real cost of the service is ₹1,495.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Buying without entering your GSTIN, then needing the invoice changed later.
- Paying for annual plans and forgetting to record the invoice in your books.
- Mixing personal and business use on the same account.
