Many businesses and CA firms use a Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) on a USB token. A common question before moving to the cloud is: will my DSC still work? With the right connection, yes.
The short answer
Your DSC token stays plugged into your own computer. When you connect to Tally on Cloud with the Remote Desktop (RDP) app, the token is passed through to your cloud session, so the server can use it as if it were plugged in there.
Browser or RDP app?
| Connection | DSC token |
|---|---|
| Open in browser | Not possible. Browsers cannot pass USB tokens to a remote server |
| Download RDP file (Remote Desktop app) | Works, through smart card redirection |
So for any work that needs your DSC, connect with the RDP file from your customer portal.
What you need
- A Windows PC with your DSC token plugged in and its driver installed on your PC.
- The RDP file from your Tally Cloud India portal.
- The token's driver on the cloud server as well. Tell our support team which token you use (for example ePass, ProxKey or Watchdata) and we will check it is supported.
Step by step
- Plug in the DSC token on your computer.
- In your portal, click Download RDP for your service and open the file.
- Sign in. The token is now available inside your cloud session.
- Use it as usual in the software that needs it.
Tips
- Keep the token plugged in before you connect; if you plug it in later, reconnect.
- If the token is not detected, check that the same token works on your own PC first, then raise a ticket.
- Never share your DSC PIN with anyone, including our team.
Good to know
DSC support through the RDP app works for every user on your account, as long as each user connects with the RDP file and has their own token.
