Once your Tally runs on a cloud server, you can open it in two ways. Both reach the same company data. The best choice depends on who is using it and for how long.
Option 1: Open in your browser
Log in to your customer portal and click Open in browser. TallyPrime opens in a new tab in Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari, already logged in.
Good for
- Owners and managers who check reports now and then
- Working from a laptop where you cannot install software
- Quick access from a phone or tablet in an emergency
Printing: when you print from Tally, the document downloads as a PDF that you can print or share.
Option 2: Use the Remote Desktop app
Download your RDP file from the portal once. After that, double-click it and enter your password to connect.
Good for
- Accountants doing data entry all day
- Printing straight to your office printer
- Using two monitors
How to set it up
- Windows: Remote Desktop is built in. Just open the RDP file.
- Mac, iPhone, iPad and Android: install Microsoft's free Windows App and import the RDP file.

Many teams use both: the accountant uses the app at the office, and the owner uses the browser from home.
Keep your access safe
- Do not share your login. Each person should have their own user.
- Change the temporary password after your first login.
- Log out when you finish on a shared computer.
On our service your server's address is never shown. Every connection goes through our secure gateway, so the servers themselves are never exposed to the internet.
